Anthropic’s status page lists ongoing errors as users report outages and interface glitches

Anthropic’s Claude AI assistant has been hit by intermittent outages in the early hours of Feb 18, 2026. The official Claude status page shows an active incident labeled “Intermittent errors in skills-related functionality” (first reported Feb 17 at 20:15 UTC) that is still under investigation. Earlier today Claude suffered a UI glitch and a feature outage: a “CSS errors on Claude.ai” incident late Feb 17 was resolved by 00:10 UTC on Feb 18, and a “Cowork new task page not loading” issue (reported 03:23 UTC Feb 18) was fixed by 04:07 UTC. In each case Anthropic implemented fixes within minutes.

  • Feb 17, 2026 – 20:15 UTC: Status page logs “Intermittent errors in skills-related functionality” affecting Claude’s chat, desktop app and API. As of 00:30 UTC Feb 18 this incident remains “continuing to investigate”.

  • Feb 17, 2026 – 23:56 UTC: A “CSS errors on Claude.ai” incident began. Anthropic reports a fix by 23:59 UTC and marked the issue resolved at 00:10 UTC Feb 18.

  • Feb 18, 2026 – 03:23 UTC: The “Cowork new task page not loading” issue was reported. It was identified and fixed by 04:07 UTC, after which the status page marked it resolved.

User reports and downtime trackers confirm the impact. Downdetector showed nearly 3,000 Claude outage reports in the US around 6:30 PM EST on Feb 17 (about 05:10 AM IST on Feb 18). Social media and forums were abuzz: one user quipped Claude’s interface was like “1995 HTML hell,” and another joked the UI looked like a Netscape browser – as if engineers had “deleted the CSS file”.

Others reported lost work: one wrote that “100+ conversations disappeared” and that “the website is down, app is down,” while another complained about losing service immediately after upgrading to a paid plan. These anecdotes align with the official timeline of brief outages.

Anthropic has acknowledged the problems on its status page and is actively addressing them. The earlier incidents (CSS/UI glitch and Cowork-page error) were quickly fixed, and Claude’s services were marked operational again. The current skills-related error is still listed as “investigating” (last update 00:30 UTC Feb 18), and no estimated fix time has been announced.

As of this writing, Claude’s web and app interfaces and API are being monitored for stability. The company reports high overall uptime (≈99.6% over 90 days) aside from these incidents, but advises users the service may be unreliable until the issue is fully resolved.
